I became aware of this book from the author’s, Kati Morton, YouTube channel. I stumbled upon her channel from watching Roosterteeth’s show Always Open. I was fascinated to learn more about this therapist as she was able to calmly answer common questions people had in regards to mental health. Upon watching her YouTube channel, you can tell that she has a passion for mental health and a desire to help those around her.
As someone with a fascination for mental health and an avid lover of mental health books, I started reading her book. What amazed me about her book is how simple the language is. She breaks down terminology that the population is not really aware of. She describes the different titles a mental health professional might have and the types of treatments there are.
So far, I am more than half way through the book and I recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about how to seek professional help. This would’ve helped me when I was first starting to seek treatment for mental health. I feel I would’ve been able to find help sooner if I knew what treatment there was available. Especially since the only thing I knew about mental health treatment was talk therapy and not the other forms.
Reading this book is a joy. I am not bored when I read it or wonder how many pages I have left until the new chapter. It is honestly a breeze to read through and is really insightful.
In addition, there is a glossary that sums up the tips and tricks from each chapter and easy-to-understand definitions for a lot of mental health terminology.
I know I will be having my friends read this book.
Thank you,
